The challenge
Growth had made fragmentation more expensive.
PowerGen's operations depended on multiple systems, spreadsheets, shared information environments and country-specific processes. As the organisation grew, inconsistent structures, duplicated work, difficult reconciliation and limited project visibility became more visible.
The assignment was not a single software implementation. It required an evolving business-systems function capable of stabilising existing platforms, migrating critical data, integrating reporting, strengthening control and creating new applications for processes that standard tools did not adequately support.
My approach
Treat the work as an operating-model programme.
I worked with Finance, Procurement, Projects, Operations and leadership to understand where information originated, how decisions were made, where controls failed and which processes needed standardisation.
I combined hands-on platform administration with requirements analysis, data modelling, product ownership, solution design, testing, documentation, training and vendor coordination across Odoo, Power BI, SQL data sources, Google Workspace, integrations and custom applications.
Start with the processMap the real workflow, decision rights, source data and exceptions before changing the technology.
Design for controlBuild permissions, approvals, validation and auditability into the operating flow.
Connect the dataBring financial, operational and project information into a consistent reporting model.
Stay close to adoptionUse testing, training and support to ensure the design works in real operations.
